Our Speaker

Richard Lawrence is the GE TRDC Engineering and site manager at the GE-owned / StandardAero-operated facility located at the JR International Airport.  After graduation, Richard worked in fan development/engineering/sales at Alphair Ventilating Systems (now Howden Fan).  In 2006 he moved to become a Facility Engineer at StandardAero.  In 2011 GE approached StandardAero to design and manage building of the GE Testing Research and Development Centre (TRDC) at J R International Airport, working in conjunction with engineers at General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio.  After working in design and project management roles for the GE9X $26M facility upgrade in 2017, Richard became the Site Operations Manager.

The Presentation

StandardAero performs aircraft engine certification testing for General Electric at the James Richardson International Airport.  An overview of the upgrades that have been implemented to accommodate the GE9X engine certification will be described .  After the presentation, a tour of the GE TRDC facility will be provided.  Government photo ID (eg. Driver’s license or Passport) will be required for entrance to the tour.  If you wish to go inside the exhaust stack (and you probably should) you must wear safety shoes.  Dress for the weather as parts of the tour will be outside. Car pools will be required to the site and will be determined after the presentation.

Parking
Parking is available at the front of 1855 Sargent as well as on the street and across the street at 1844 Sargent.  Car pools will need to be formed for the trip to the testing facility tour for security reasons, and will be determined after the presentation.
