1.         Feature Presentation

Motorsports is generally what’s considered a “low volume” industry.  While “high volume”, or mass production, equals thousands of parts per day, motorsports may be as low as five parts per year and this presents tremendous challenges. With over 30 years of New Product Development experience, 15 of those in motorsports, Kelly will share her experiences and recommendations for project planning to help students with their SAE competition projects, as well as in their upcoming careers.

2.         Our Speakers

UMSAE is the local SAE student section at the University of Manitoba.  The student group is involved in the Aero, Formula, Baja and Formula Electric competitions.  The teams share shop space at the University of Manitoba and the development of the projects is continuing.

Kelly Olischefski is Chief Operating Officer of Senga Engineering, a California-based full-service supplier of precision machined parts and assemblies. As COO, she plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees Senga’s manufacturing operations with particular emphasis on applying innovative technology and techniques to drive product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and improve labor and material efficiencies. Sales, Marketing, Finance, and HR are also within her purview and she enjoys extending her engineering problem-solving skills to those areas. Kelly’s educational background includes degrees in mechanical engineering (from the University of Manitoba!) and business/marketing.  Prior to joining Senga, she held engineering and operations management roles in Automotive and Performance Sports manufacturing industries. Besides being passionate about analytics and informed business decisions, Kelly takes great interest in building and leading high-performing cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless project planning and execution. Always willing to coach and mentor, Kelly has judged many student competitions and has taught college and high school groups the basics of project management, budgets, and schedules. After hours, Kelly enjoys spending time outdoors with her three sons and has many hobbies including cooking, reading, and gardening.
