The Presentation

Auto racing is an intense crucible that tests a vehicle's capabilities, but even more it tests the driver's abilities and trust in that vehicle. Adjusting the vehicle to the driver through testing can yield huge reductions in lap times, even if the engineering principles suggest the opposite. But, once the race has started, it's now imperative that the driver adjusts to the vehicle they have to extract the best result. When the vehicle and driver are in harmony, they tend to win. We'll review this perpetual struggle from the point of the race engineer and the racer - who often are the same person in amateur motorsports.

After the presentation, we will apply its lessons in a one-hour Le Mans-style kart race at Speedworld! Teams assigned to each kart will race against each other to complete as many laps as possible before time runs out!

Our Speaker

Corey Dyck is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the U of Manitoba. While working in the heavy-duty transit industry, he's pursued amateur motorsport as a passion for 17 years now. Corey has won a few Canadian National Championships and has placed in the top 10 in US National competitions in his chosen sport of autocross. He's created, refined, and instructed at a local autocross racing school that has helped hundreds of drivers reach their personal goals in amateur motorsports over the past 15 years.
