The Presentation
We will be showing a video shot by the SAE Detroit Section of a Technical Presentation from Ford regarding the development of the all new Ford F150 truck. In the new model, Ford engineered the vehicle to be 700 lbs lighter, largely due the use of high strength steel in the frame and high strength aluminum in the body. This resulted in an increased power to weight ratio, and helped Ford achieve a key goal with this project that consumers demanded - increased fuel efficiency without sacrificing power. The presentation discusses the history of the project, the testing programs and key aspects of the new model. It also discusses the specifics about the aluminum design changes from the grades used, to fastening and forming technologies.

Parking is available throughout the University of Manitoba's Fort Garry campus. Parking is generally free at the time of this presentation. The E and S-lots in particular are recommended.
