The Presentation
Auto racing is a combination
of driver skill and vehicle capabilities. This presentation will focus on high
performance driving techniques used in road racing, autocross and performance
driving.
The Race
After the presentation, we
will apply the lessons in a one-hour Le Mans-style kart race at Speedworld!
Teams assigned to each kart will race against each other to complete as many
laps as possible before time runs out!
Teams
will be a mix of SAE students, professional SAE members, and other guests. This
is a great networking opportunity for students and professionals alike!
Our Speaker
Corey Dyck is a Mechanical
Engineering graduate of the U of Manitoba. While working in the heavy-duty
transit industry, he's pursued amateur motorsports as a passion for over 25
years now. Corey has won a few Canadian National Championships and has placed
in the top 10 in US National competitions in his chosen sport of autocross.
He's created, refined, and instructed at a local autocross racing school that
has helped hundreds of drivers reach their personal goals in amateur
motorsports over the past 20+ years.
Student Recognition
SAE Manitoba would like to
recognize the world-class UMSAE student organization here in Manitoba.
Together, they form one of the largest student member groups in the world. This
event celebrates their participation in SAE, their contribution to the industry,
and their role in the development of the engineering function in society, and
gives them a networking opportunity with professional SAE MB members. It also
gives the professional members a chance to show their support for the students
by contributing to this event.
